Phoenix

Phoenix is the capital of Arizona as well as its most populous city, with more than 1.6 million residents. Known as the “Valley of the Sun,” the city is the center of the Phoenix metropolitan area, which includes other cities such as Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, and Scottsdale.

The early days of Phoenix can be traced back to 1867, when Civil War veteran Jack Swilling chanced upon the area as he made his way through Salt River Valley. Seeing its potential for agriculture, he established a small community about four miles east of the city’s present location. Lord Darrell Duppa, who was one of the members of the original group of settlers, suggested naming it “Phoenix,” as it resembled a city built from the ruins of a previous civilization.

Today, Phoenix is a diverse city influenced by many walks of life. There are over 16 million people visiting metro Phoenix every year, most of which become permanent residents for good reason – the city offers a high quality of life, affordable cost of living, great neighborhoods, incredible activities and destinations, close proximity to top attractions like Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, and so much more.
